BBC compulsory redundancies caused by Covid-19

The request was successful.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

Many media organisations have made staff redundant or put them on furlough for reasons directly or indirectly attributable to the Covid-19 pandemic. For example, it has been reported that ITV put 800 staff on furlough ( and that the Evening Standard ( intended to reduce its newsroom staff by 40% because of reduced advertising revenue.

I understand that the BBC does not qualify to use the government's furlough scheme.

My question is: how many BBC staff have compulsorily been made redundant in the last 6 months as a result, directly or indirectly, of the Covid pandemic?

Yours faithfully,

Giles Nelson.
