Please note that in November 2012, the council recruited a new Chief Executive. In view of this, the total for employer pension contributions paid during this financial year is an aggregated figure based on the respective salaries of the two employees concerned.
How many Council employed staff are paid below the Living Wage of £7.65 per hour.
The council is a Living Wage employer. Its Living Wage is currently set at £7.45 per hour in line with the Living Wage Foundation’s UK rate for 2012. In line with other Living Wage Employers, the council has six months from the date any increase in the Living Wage is announced to implement the rise. As the council’s financial year begins on 1 April, it will be implementing the new rate of £7.65 per hour with effect from 1 April 2014.
Do you have a minimum salary requirement for workers within outsourced service contracts?
No. However, as part of its Procurement Strategy, the council is committed to educating suppliers and potential suppliers of the benefits of paying the Living Wage to their employees. Prospective suppliers are given the opportunity to submit tenders for contracts that have been costed on the basis of either paying, or not paying, the Living Wage to their employees.
