Dear Sir or Madam,

Please can you provide information regarding Leicester City Council's capital investments highlighted in the following news article:

"Just how safe is our £375 million?"

"LEICESTER CITY COUNCIL: The city council has £16 million invested with banking institutions and £64 million in Government bonds; £3 million-plus interest received; Overall budget £800 million."

1) Details of the banking institutions referred to concerning investments of £16 million including (a) the identity of the financial entities managing the investments (b) the terms of the investments including the type of investment funds (c) the totals currently invested with each aforementioned financial entity and (d) changes in investment positions 2001 through 2008.

2) Details of the £64 million in Government bonds, including (a) bond face values (b) coupon rates and (c) maturity schedules.

3) Details of the investments relating to the reported revenue of £3 million-plus in interest.

A fee maybe payable for this information. You will be informed if a fee
is payable and, in this event, the fee must be paid before the
information is processed and released. The 20 working day time limit for
responses will be suspended until receipt of the payment. Please be
aware that if payment is not received within 3 calendar months of the
date of this letter, your request will be closed and you will have to
re-apply for the information should you still want it.
