Dear Tom Reighard,
Your request was received on 9 March 2025 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’).
You asked:
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding
admissions to the BA Mathematics degree at the University of Cambridge from 2020 to the
present.
Specifically, I would like to request the following data for each admissions cycle:
The total number of applicants.
The number of applicants invited to an interview.
The number of applicants who were not invited to an interview.
The number of offers made.
The number of applicants who did not receive an offer.
The number of students who subsequently enrolled in the programme.
If possible, I would appreciate the data being broken down by year.
The information you have requested, insofar as it is held by the University, is published at
Application
statistics | Undergraduate Study. The University therefore considers that this information is reasonably
accessible to you by other means and is exempt under section 21(1) of the Act, which confers absolute
exemption. Information about interviewees is not held; all interview processes for entry to
undergraduate degree courses at the University are set and managed locally by each of the individual
Colleges, each of which is a separate legal entity and public authority under the Act.
If you wish to request an internal review of this response, you should contact us quoting the reference
number above. The University would normally expect to receive your request for an internal review
within 40 working days of the date of this letter and reserves the right not to review a decision where

there has been undue delay in raising a complaint. If you are not content with the outcome of your
internal review, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the
Information Commissioner cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the internal review
procedure provided by the University. The Information Commissioner may be contacted at: The
