Dear Ms Hales,

I write in my capacity as Tutor for Admissions at New College, in response
to your Freedom of Information request of 19 August 2023. You asked the
following:

“Please provide all the documents given as pre-reading prior to interview
in the last 3 admission cycles for BA Jurisprudence. If pre-reading was
not given then please state the content of the interview e.g. statute on
assault given.”

In 2022 and 2021 New College did not in fact use pre-reading for
interviews in Law. In 2022, interviewers discussed scenarios relating to
contract law; and in 2021, the scenario related to criminal law. I regret
that I have been unable to contact the colleague who managed Law
interviews in 2020, but will complete our answer as soon as I hear from
him.

Dear Ms Hales,

Further to my response below, I can now confirm that no pre-reading was
assigned in 2020 for interviews in Law at New College. The focus of one
interview was the right to free speech. The focus of the other on an issue
of criminal law.
