Dear J Singh,
Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”)
Further to your recent request for information held by King’s Col ege London, I am
writing to confirm that the requested information is held by the university.
Your request
We received your information request on 20th May 2020 and have treated it as a
request for information made under section 1(1) of the Act.
You requested the fol owing information:
I am writing to you regarding your BA History (V100) course.
Could you please provide myself with an Excel spreadsheet with the fol owing data/information
from the last 2 admission cycles:
1) A Level grades (predicted)
2) A Level grades (achieved)
3) Whether an offer was made
Also, what was the lowest GCSE grade combination for those given an offer?
Our response
Please find a spreadsheet attached containing the following information -
• Applicants to V100 in the 2018 and 2019 cycle who had GCSEs and/or A
Levels attached to their application
Whether they received an offer
• Their A Level and GCSE grades and predictions
Please note the following information –
• Data has been taken for the following UCAS cycles: 2018 and 2019.
• Applicants could have applied for deferred entry.
• The university has a variety of ways in which grades are stored -
o SQE – UCAS provide the grades if an applicant was studying the
qualification at the time of application. UCAS verify these grades so
they are the most reliable.
SQE data is stored by applicant and not by application. This
means that if an applicant has applied for a course in two
separate years at King’s, there could be duplications in the
qualifications (i.e. not all of the qualifications will be relevant
to the course applied for). To assist in identifying where these
cases may apply, the SQE import date has been included in
the data. The import date should correspond to the month
and year of when the qualifications were achieved and should
match up to the UCAS cycle.
o SQF – if an applicant has already achieved their qualification, they
would input this onto their application themselves. If the qualification
were a condition of their offer, the university would ask for proof
issuing an unconditional offer. These grades are not necessarily
accurate.
o SQF predicted grades: usual y manual y entered from the nominated
staff from the applicant’s school
o It is worth noting that the data is given as it is stored.
o Resits/remarks may be included in the data.
o Where there is SQE and SQF records for the same qualification,
SQE is the most reliable.
• The qualifications data is provided as it is stored in the system. Therefore,
there are often multiple lines of data per application, dependent on the
number of qualifications.
• Applicants could have had other qualifications on their application.
This completes the university’s response to your information request.
