Dear Tracey Hamblett,

Thank you, just to clarify, by "vehicle activated sign" does that mean the data was collected by something that caused a temporary 30mph repeater to flash at the drivers?

Yours sincerely,

Alex Hosking

Dear Mr Hosking

I refer to your e-mail dated 20 May 2020 requiring clarification in
respect of the operation of a Vehicle Activated Sign.

The Road Safety team, who programme the sign installation, have confirmed
that the ‘Speedvisor’ vehicle activated sign is set up to always display
the speed the vehicle is travelling but the sign has cut off points, for
example minimum and maximum speeds displayed (see below).  However the
sign will record all speeds.

30mph speed limit – Min 15mph/Max 40mph

40mph speed limit – Min 15mph/Max 50mph.

I trust the above information is of assistance.

Yours sincerely

Tracey

Dear Tracey Hamblett,

So, the purpose of this sign was to slow people down and many of the people who the sign flashed at knew they were having their speed measured, or would likely already had it flash at them earlier in the week, however the average speed was lowest on the road that has the higher speed limit and where the speed measurement was much more covert?

Yours sincerely,

Alex Hosking
