Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the
Act”)
Further to your recent request for information held by King’s College
London, I am writing to confirm that the requested information is held by
the university.
Your request
We received your information request on 26^th October 2023 and have
treated it as a request for information made under section 1(1) of the
Act.
You requested the following information:

Physics module in the 2022/23 academic year, as well as the top 5%
percentile score for each module.

physics student achieved in the 2022/23 academic year, as well as the top
2% percentile and the top 5% percentile.
3.The total number of third-year physics students in the department and
the average score of each student in the 2022/23 academic year.
I would like to request the average grade for all King's Department of

Physics module in the 2022/23 academic year, as well as the top 5%
percentile score for each module.
2. The highest average score encompassing all third-year modules that a
physics student achieved in the 2022/23 academic year, as well as the
top 2% percentile and the top 5% percentile.
The attached appendix provides details relevant to your request.
The Students & Education Directorate Office have advised they do not
calculate averages for students before the C Score calculation for their
final degree mark. Therefore, as far as can be reasonably ascertained,
currently no information is held by King’s College London concerning this
part of your request.
3. The total number of third-year physics students in the department and
the average score of each student in the 2022/23 academic year.
The attached appendix provides details relevant to your request. Please
consider the notices in red when analysing the data.
Please note:
• The data is for BSc Physics students only and does not include any
other routes (eg Physics with Theoretical Physics, Physics with
Astrophysics and Cosmology etc)
• Note that some 3^rd year BSc Physics students transferred onto the
MSci, and so the number of 3^rd year students vs number who graduated
with a BSc are different.
I would like to request the average grade for all King's Department of
Physics- modules for the 2022-2023 year (breakdown on a module basis, only
level 6 modules, in 5% percentiles).
In addition, I would like to request the three year average grade for each

Moreover, I would like to request, how many BSc Physics students have
received each degree classification at the point of graduating in 2022/23
academic year.
The attached appendix provides details relevant to your request. As
previously advised, we do not calculate averages for students before the C
Score calculation for their final degree mark.
This completes the university’s response to your information request.
