Available details of an investigation into illegal procurement of wild falcons carried out in the early-mid 90's.

Humberside Police Authority did not have the information requested.

Dear Humberside Police Authority,
I am making a request under the FOI Act in the hope that you are able to provide the details I am requesting.

In August 1993, the investigative TV programme "The Cook Report" (in co-operation with the RSPB and the-then Dept. of the Environment (DoE)) aired an episode on the topic of illegally procured wild falcons. In the episode, a Humberside falconer was alleged to have sold an undercover "Cook Report" journalist/associate two wild falcons (which is illegal) while claiming the birds were captive-bred siblings.

However my request is regarding the following: It has been claimed on one particular well-known website that, presumably following investigation, a letter from the-then Chief Constable of the Humberside Police had been presented to, and which totally exonerated, the falconer of the allegations made in the programme.

Could you please confirm this indeed correct, and if so, is it possible that I could be furnished with a copy of the "exoneration" letter?

Yours Sincerely,
A. Campbell
