Availability of sober accommodation
Dear Goldsmiths, University of London,
I am requesting information on the availability of sober accommodation provided by the University:
Is it possible for students to apply for alcohol-free accommodation?
How many students have specified alcohol-free accommodation as a choice during the application process since 2015? Please split by academic year if possible, 2015/16, 2016/17 etc.
Please provide this data in an excel spreadsheet.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Cassidy
Dear Alex Cassidy,
We are writing to formally acknowledge your request, which has been logged
as a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, with reference 2347.
You will appreciate that all information requests place some degree of
demand on a public authority’s resources in terms of costs and staff time
and that Goldsmiths may need to prioritise resources to other areas, or
adapt its usual approach to information governance work, in order to meet
the unprecedented challenges we are all facing during the Coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic.
Therefore, we need to advise you that you are likely to experience delays
in receiving responses to information requests during the Coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Alex Cassidy,
I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request, reference
2347, with apologies for our delay.
Your request:
I am requesting information on the availability of sober accommodation
provided by the University:
Is it possible for students to apply for alcohol-free accommodation?
How many students have specified alcohol-free accommodation as a choice
during the application process since 2015? Please split by academic year
if possible, 2015/16, 2016/17 etc.
Our response:
None of the accommodation provided by the College or third party providers
is specifically designated as alcohol-free. Subsequently, the option to
specify a preference for sober accommodation is not a part of the
accommodation application process.
Goldsmiths UoL works to provide the best possible services for our
students to support their mental health and wellbeing, offering a range of
support such as drop-in wellbeing appointments Monday-Friday, and with
Campus Support Officers available overnight and at weekends. More
information on this is available here: [1]Wellbeing | Goldsmiths,
