Automated announcements voiceovers.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Transport for London,

Hi. I am wondering what is the name of the two voiceovers that are used on the platforms at Kilburn Park, Maida Vale, Warwick Avenue, Holland Park, Queensway, Lancaster Gate, Marble Arch, Regents Park, and possibly a few others as well. There is both a male voice (who seems to do the safety announcements and special announcements) and a female voice (who seems to do the next train announcements) and i would like to know the name of both of them please. I know most other London Underground stations seem to use Elinor Hamilton and Phil Sayer but the voiceovers at these stations are different. They sound like the same two people that used to be used by Southeastern trains on their old DITRA system that they used to use. If you could tell me who these two voiceovers are that would be great. Many thanks.

Yours faithfully,

John Smith

FOI, Transport for London

Dear Mr Smith

TfL Ref: 0720-1819

Thank you for your email received by us on 13 July 2018 asking for
information about London Underground’s voiceovers for automated
announcements.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can
confirm that we hold the information you require.  You asked:

what is the name of the two voiceovers that are used on the platforms at
Kilburn Park, Maida Vale, Warwick Avenue, Holland Park, Queensway,
Lancaster Gate, Marble Arch, Regents Park, and possibly a few others as
well. There is both a male voice (who seems to do the safety announcements
and special announcements) and a female voice (who seems to do the next
train announcements) and i would like to know the name of both of them
please

I can advise that the two voices are Emma Clarke and a member of staff.

However, in accordance with TfL’s obligations under the Data Protection
Act 1998 (DPA) the employee’s name has been withheld as required by
section 40(2) of the FOI Act. This is because disclosure of this personal
data would be a breach of the DPA, specifically the first principle of the
DPA which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful.
It would not be fair to disclose this personal information when the
individuals have no expectation it would be disclosed and TfL has not
satisfied one of the conditions of Schedule 2 of the Data Protection Act
which would make the processing ‘fair’.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
