Autodiallers and Junkmailers when will they be stopped

craig smith made this Freedom of Information request to Prime Minister's Office Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Prime Minister's Office should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Prime Minister's Office,

When will there be a legal crackdown on auto-diallers or persistent callers?
For instance the likes of numbers of dubious geographical origin who think its ok to autodial someone many times a week and leave automated voicemails despite these numbers being blocked by the recipient.
It puts a lot of people off answering unfamiliar numbers because they think its going to be one of these spam callers.
Also people claiming 'debt' from spent broadband accounts, former suppliers etc who think its ok to continuously call or junkmail people they no longer supply trying to extort money from them who are basically doing the same thing.
When will there be a legal crackdown on spam calling and persistent junkmailers such as charity bags,tv licensing mass-mails and spam callers such as robocall, the whatsapp fake recruitment messagers etc

Yours faithfully,

craig smith
