Dear Clackmannanshire Council,

I would like to request information in relation to adults with autism.

Can I ask for a breakdown of all the supports and/or support services available for adults with autism with and without a learning disability within the geographical area of your local authority? For example, day services, social support services, drop-in services, access to services, diagnostic and post-diagnostic services etc.

Adult Services: Where an adult has a learning disability a
multi-disciplinary assessment team carries out assessments. These services
are provided for adults by the Community Learning Disability Team.

General adult psychiatry: within community general adult psychiatry the
pathway is for assessment to be carried out to determine if the diagnostic
criteria are met. There is a tertiary clinic for further assessment.

Psychology (Adult): Clinical psychology offer assessment for adults within
their service for whom the question of co-morbid diagnosis arises.

The Autism project within the Mental Health Improvement Team aims to
develop a pathway for General Practitioners to improve consistency of
practice and aid with the referral process. Post diagnostic supports are
also being developed to improve the information after diagnosis. This only
exists for those who meet criteria for secondary care  i.e. have a
co-morbid diagnosis or their functioning is severely impaired by the
impact of autism.
