Audit Testing - Teacher Post Selection / Application / Interview / Appointment Compliance

Dear Derbyshire County Council,

This is a FOI Act request for all Audit visits condcuted in accordance with Regulation 5 of The Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 to Secondary Schools in Chesterfield and North Derbyshire areas (only) between 1st January 2012 and 1st December 2015 for testing the recruitment / selection control processes in which teaching staff included

Please provide:

1. Total number of schools tested by Audit for this purpose during this period

2. Total number of teaching staff included in said testing during this period

3. Total number of identified failures to comply with policy in respect of teacher post
recruitment / application / interview selection / appointment process to include any flaw / inadequacy / weakness / deficiencies in respect of such during this period

4. Total number of said schools subject to testing where such failures have identifed an applicant(s) who did not complete an Application Form as required by policy

5. Total number of Audit recommendations given to said schools seking to address the cause of any identified control weakness or failings

6. The specific remedial / corrective action recommended by Audit seeking to remedy any identified control weakness / failings in response to said findings

The request has been considered under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The response to your request is as follows:

2. Total number of teaching staff included in said testing during this
period - 35

 

3. Total number of identified failures to comply with policy in respect of
teacher post recruitment / application / interview selection / appointment
process to include any flaw / inadequacy / weakness / deficiencies in
respect of such during this period - 83

 

4. Total number of said schools subject to testing where such failures
have identified an applicant(s) who did not complete an Application Form
as required by policy - Audit Services work does not specifically include
testing of application forms, although reference to such forms may be
made, and is based upon independent confirmation of key details eg
qualifications, references.

 

5. Total number of Audit recommendations given to said schools seeking to
address the cause of any identified control weakness or failings - 66

 

6. The specific remedial / corrective action recommended by Audit seeking
to remedy any identified control weakness / failings in response to said
findings - see analysis attached
