Audio recording of meetings between Social Services staff and service users
Dear Lancashire County Council,
What is your policy concerning the audio recording by service users themselves of their
meetings with Local Authority staff particularly where the meetings are concerned with matters arising from the implementation of the Care Act 2014.
If such a recording is carried out covertly and the Social Worker discovers it during the meeting what is your advice as to the action the Social Worker should take.
Has the Authority any policy that would preclude a service user from making a recording of a meeting with a social worker.
For the purpose of this FOI Request: Recording means any audio recording on any device capable making such a recording.
Yours faithfully,
Kenneth Boddington

Lancashire County Council does not have a policy regarding service users
audio recording meetings themselves with Local Authority staff. Section 36
of the Data Protection Act 1998 exempts personal data processed for
domestic purposes.
If such a recording is carried out covertly and the Social Worker
discovers it during the meeting what is your advice as to the action the
Social Worker should take.
Please see answer to point one.
