Dear FOI,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

To be a bit more specific, the total attendance numbers for English National Ballet performances during the most recent and complete year will suffice.

Yours sincerely,

Donald Bragos

FOI, Arts Council England

Dear Mr Bragos,

Thank you for your request for information from the Arts Council.

As previously mentioned, I can confirm that this request was considered in line with our obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

YOU REQUESTED:
To know how many paying visitors attended performances of the English National Ballet, which is primarily funded by the Arts Council of England.

OUR RESPONSE:
From the data we hold (the Arts Council annual submission year of 2012/13) the English National Ballet sold 245,842 tickets between 1st April 2012 and 31st March 2013.
(For information, these figures are for a 12 month period whereas Arts Council England 'Grants for the Arts' project funded organisations generally report on the life of a project which could last past a 12 month period).

I hope the information being provided is helpful. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied that the Arts Council has complied with the Freedom of Information Act in responding to your request you have the right to an internal review. Please contact me at the address above, explaining what you would like us to review under the Act. Alternatively you can detail your concerns in writing and send them to the Chief Executive, Arts Council England, 14 Great Peter Street, London, SW1P 3NQ or email to [email address]

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

Kind regards

Tom Matthews
