Dear Department for Communities (Northern Ireland),

1)Please provide a copy of all correspondence between DfC and the Commission relating to the assurances requested by DfC’s Head of Governance during the period 1 July 2021 to date, including in particular the formal statement of assurances which have been provided by the Chief Commissioner in relation to complaints made to CCNI by affected persons invited to engage with the review. In particular any assurance that refer to the illegal s22 inquiry into Lough Neagh Rescue, its institution and any conclusions relied upon when determining the validity of assurances provided.
2) Please provide a copy of the full report by Independent Counsel as provided by the Commission to the DFC.

Happy to take a call to clarify any aspect of this request. In addition you may treat this as a normal business enquiry if it helps.

Yours faithfully,

Trevor McKee

COVID-19 Virus – Information for Requesters.

Thank you for contacting the Department for Communities FOI team,

While FOI law still applies during this time the Department is facing
unprecedented pressures – for example as a result of staff absences,
office closures, or a significant increase in demand for our services,
such as access to benefits.

Therefore we may find it challenging to respond to information requests
within the 20 working day timescale set out in law.

We would ask requesters to think about the impact of Covid-19 when making
a request. Your information rights remain vitally important, and the FOI
principles of openness, transparency and accountability will play an
essential role in supporting public trust at this difficult time.
However, if you're planning a request, it's worth thinking about whether
there is any way the request might be narrowed to reduce its impact and
speed up your response.

Following guidance from the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), we
will keep requesters informed of any delays and will respond as soon as
resources allow.

We will also be keeping up to date on guidance from the ICO as the
situation changes to ensure that we comply with any changes or amendments
to information rights practice.

Dear Department for Communities (Northern Ireland),

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Communities (Northern Ireland)'s handling of my FOI request 'Assurances'.

Please review this decision, as not all of the information I have requested is personal data. I would be grateful if you could release the information which does not fall under this description.
Please review this decision, as I believe the exemption has been applied wrongly. Note that I am asking for information which does not allow for the identification of a specific individual.
In addition the information requested has been disseminated to a wide body of people by the CCNI (internally and externally). The Department itself including the VCU, have been provided with the information. In addition, the review panel members were briefed on the information as well as the Committee for Communities during its deliberations on the Charities Bill.
It seems to me to be particularly unfair that government have chosen to withhold information that is clearly in the public interest.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...

Yours faithfully,

Trevor McKee
