Assessments on A556 Lobby Groups proposals for improvements to J20/M6

Waiting for an internal review by Highways Agency of their handling of this request.

Dear Highways Agency,

Please can you provide details of the "initial work done" up to July 2012 that the Highways Agency undertook on assessing the alternative proposal for improvements to J20/M6 submitted by the A556 Lobby Group. The A556 Knutsford to Bowdon Project Team refer to this in an email dated 9 August 2012 to me which states:

"I can advise that our initial findings show that this alternative would not provide sufficient benefits and as a result is not good value for money. It would also result in more traffic for rural communities. This was the position from initial work done by the time we did the update in July."

Similar statements from the Highways Agency have also appeared in local press.

Yours faithfully,

Mr. M. Parkinson

Dear Poytress, Alison,

I would like to request an 'internal review' of this decision to refuse my request.

As the Highways Agency (HA) felt able to release publicly a judgement about the A556 Lobby Groups proposed alternative scheme (which I already have quoted) then I feel I should be able to see at least any initial summary the HA have on file regarding their conclusions so far. This is in order for myself, the A556 Lobby Group and the public to appreciate the basis for that judgement.

Can you please confirm if the HA actually do stand by that initial statement about value for money, since as far as I can see you have now said that the HA haven't got as far as working out the costs of our alternative.

Yours sincerely,

M. Parkinson
