Assaults on staff and patients in in-house mental health facilities
Dear Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust,
Please could you provide me with details of the following incidents that occurred in in-patient mental health facilities managed by your trust on an annual basis, broken down by year from 2011 to 2018:
1. Total number of reported patient on staff assaults in in-patient mental health facilities managed by your Trust each year. Preferably broken down by type of assault e.g. physical/verbal etc
2. Total number of reported patient on patient assaults in in-patient mental health facilities managed by your Trust each year. Preferably broken down by type of assault e.g. physical/verbal etc
3. Number of reported arson attempts / deliberately started fires in in-patient mental health facilities managed by your Trust each year
4. Number of reported assaults that included a weapon (knife, razor blade, needle etc) in in-patient mental health facilities managed by your Trust each year
5. Total amount paid in compensation by the Trust as a result of reported assaults by patients at in-patient mental health facilities managed by your trust each year.

The Act allows 20 working days for us to respond to your request so you

Dear Mike Overthrow,
With regards to your recent request for information, made under the
Freedom of Information Act, please find attached a response from EPUT.
If you are dissatisfied with the response you have received, you have the
right to request a review of our decision or make a complaint about how
your request has been handled. Your request should be made within 2
months of receipt of this letter and we will reply within 20 working days
of receipt. Any such request received after 2 months will only be
considered at the discretion of the organisation.
If our decision is unchanged following a review and you remain
