Ashmount Primary school (crouch hill community park) - brownfield site -soil Investigation- contamination

We're waiting for Abdul Hai to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Islington Borough Council,

Could you please provide copies of all planning application document.

Could you please detail what criteria have been used to define the site as “brownfield”

Could you please confirm wether or not the school was built on contaminated land.

If yes please provide details and costs of remedial/clean up work carried by the council and or private company.

Could you please provide copies of all soil investigation reports.

Please list what contaminated substances were found and their levels.

Please also provide location of contaminated land located in proximity to the school

Please provide an up to date copy of your brownfield land register along with details of sites from the Public Registers that have formally been determined as contaminated land under EPA 1990.

Thank you for your email below.  I have consulted the relevant manager and
can confirm the following:

 

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012: “Interpretation for Managing and
Working with Asbestos in Soil and Construction & Demolition materials:
Industry” Guidance (also known as CAR-SOIL) requires employers to assess
any potential exposure to asbestos faced by employees.  Environment Agency
regulations require the quantification of asbestos in soils is determined
so that an assessment can be made in relation to hazardous waste handling
arrangements. 

 

The Environmental Pollution, Policy & Projects team do not hold reports on
asbestos in soil for this site.
