Asbestos Awareness Training
Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
Subject
Freedom of Information request - Asbestos Training
Hello, please could you tell me if the council outsource the asbestos awareness training of certain staff or if this is done internally by members of the council.
Also, how asbestos awareness training is done, either online or face to face in classrooms, thanks
Yours faithfully,
Mr A. Smith
Dear Mr Smith
Thank you for your enquiry of 25 November 2021 regarding asbestos
awareness training.
The Council outsources all asbestos works, therefore training around
asbestos works, licenced or non licenced, is not undertaken for staff.
Asbestos awareness training is undertaken for staff across the council for
those members that are in buildings that contain asbestos. We advise that
staff who are based in buildings with asbestos undertake awareness
training at least once every 3 years. Post Covid training was carried out
collectively within the Town hall across all departments. However MS
Teams is now being used and awareness e-learning packages are being
developed to further improve training in asbestos awareness across all
staff who work in council buildings, this includes schools owned and
managed by Wirral Borough Council.
Yours sincerely
