Dear Nuclear Decommissioning Authority,

We make this request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and/or The Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

We write further to our FOI request submitted to UKAEA on 2 March, link attached https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...

We have bee referred to you and would be grateful for the following in relation to the UKAEA Springfield nuclear plant in Preston:

(a) all asbestos registers for building A376, from 1983 to 1986;
(b) all asbestos surveys, reports, air samples and/or fibre counts relating to building A376 from 1983 to 1986;
(c) all records detailing refurbishment and/or asbestos removal works undertaken in building A376 from 1983 - 1986;
(d) all asbestos prohibition notices for building A376 from 1983 to 1986;
(e) all asbestos registers for building A321, A170 complex, A328 Beryllium Buildings, and A189 waste storage areas from 1986 to 1993;
(f) all asbestos surveys, reports, air samples and/or fibre counts relating to building A321, A170 complex, A328 Beryllium Buildings, and A189 waste storage areas from 1986 to 1993;
(g) all records relating to the decommissioning and/or asbestos removal works undertaken in building A321, A170 complex, A328 Beryllium Buildings, and A189 waste storage areas from 1986 to 1993;
(h) all asbestos prohibition notices for building A321, A170 complex, A328 Beryllium Buildings, and A189 waste storage areas from 1986 to 1993;
(i) any communication with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority relating to asbestos in any buildings and in particular building A321, A170 complex, A328 Beryllium Buildings, and A189 waste storage areas from 1986 to 1993;
(j) all correspondence with the Health & Safety Executive regarding asbestos for any of the aforementioned buildings from 1983 - 1993;
(k) any internal UKAEA communications, memos or documentation detailing how to identify, prioritise, remove, handle and/or safely dispose of asbestos, and any safety protocols, systems of work, training or protection relating to asbestos from 1983 - 1993; and
(l) The number of asbestos civil claims against the UKAEA in relation to exposure at Springfields, Preston.
