Army Foundation College - attendance and dismissals in the first six weeks - follow-up

The request was refused by British Army.

Dear British Army,

Thank you for the full and timely answer to my FOI request on the above subject (re. ArmySec/U/A/FOI2022/12690, https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...)

I'd like to make a a follow-up request about the information you provided to the fourth question.

In your reply to this part of the request, you stated that, of the 80 Army Foundation College recruits who had started in September this year and left the army during the first six weeks, 70 had left for reason of Not Required for Army Service (NRAS) / Other, and 10 for a defect in the enlistment process.

Can you please tell me:

1. Of the 70 recruits discharged as NRAS / Other, how many left because a) they or their parents had asked that they leave, and b) the army deemed them unfit for service.

2. Of the 10 recruits discharged for a defect in their enlistment, how many cases concerned irregularities in obtaining parental consent.

It may help if I explain that, in respect of question 1, I am trying to understand what proportion of discharged recruits left because they wanted to, and how many left because the army did not want them to remain.

Thank you again for your attention to this.

Yours faithfully,

David Gee
