Throughout your training and beyond, you will receive coaching, mentoring and day-to-day support from your colleagues. The comprehensive induction programme will allow you to complete assessments and write reports on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Support is on-going and will allow you to become a proficient and qualified Health & Disability Analyst.
Due to the broad range of conditions and disabilities you will encounter, each day will be different and varied. There are clear prospects for career advancement and professional development with your existing clinical knowledge being enhanced through the varied nature of the role. You will be conducting assessments through a combination of home consultations visits and centre based appointments. You will use your existing and newly acquired skills to determine how a person’s health condition or disability is impacting their daily life, whilst recognising that individuals may be affected in different ways.
Following the assessment, it will be your job to write a detailed, objective report for the DWP, who then make a decision on the person’s PIP claim.
While the role is autonomous, you will have the excellent benefit of being able to share knowledge with a team made up of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, paramedics and nurses from the fields of mental health, general nursing and learning disabilities. To be considered for this opportunity, full registration with the NMC / HCPC, plus a minimum of 2 years post-registration experience within a range of clinical settings is required. A full driving license is also essential.
In addition to an excellent reward package that is worth up to the value of £9,000 per year, you will have the opportunity to receive two salary increases in your first 18 months dependent on performance.

Currently as part of the renewal requirements nurses and midwives must
undertake a minimum number of practice hours (450 hours over three years).
The current practice standard requires the hours to be practised in ‘…some
capacity by virtue of your nursing or midwifery qualification…’ This means
that the registrant is practising in a role in their professional capacity
as a registered nurse or midwife, and using their qualifications, skills
and experience in their role.
Hours undertaken in any healthcare, nursing or midwifery assistant or
support worker roles cannot be counted towards practice hours as a
registered nurse or midwife.
Nurses and midwives work across a wide range of roles, functions and
settings. For example, these include roles in front line clinical care
both in acute and community settings, roles in nursing and midwifery
education and research, volunteer work policy advisory roles and
management, leadership, public health and commissioning roles specific to
nursing or midwifery.
The activities they undertake to meet these requirements will reflect
their individual current scope of practice as a nurse or midwife.
It is up to the registrant to determine whether they are using the skills
of their qualification in this role and so whether it is suitable to
maintain their registration.
