Dear Home Office,
What background checks were made about Kevin Hyland by the Home Office prior to his appointment as the Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner and was his professional and ethical conduct as an officer in the Metropolitan Police taken into account?
When considering his reappointment, what process of assessment was followed? In making any assessment, what account was taken of any outstanding formal complaints made against Mr Hyland? Was there an open and fair appointment process for his reappointment in accordance with the December 2016 guidance?
