Dear Ella,

Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”)

Further to your recent request for information held by King’s College London, I am
writing to confirm that the requested information is held by the university.

Your request

We received your information request on 8th June 2020 and have treated it as a
request for information made under section 1(1) of the Act.

You requested the following information:

For the A100 Medicine programme, please could you answer my following questions for the 2018
and 2019 MBBS cycle.

1.  How many candidates obtained an interview that did not meet the GCSE requirements (B in
maths and English)
2.  What was the average UCAT for these applicants (if applicable)
3. What were the lowest 15 GCSE scores for candidates that obtained an interview/ an average of
the GCSE results

Our response

Please find an excel spreadsheet containing the following information:

•  Applicants who received an interview for A100 in the 2018 and 2019 cycle
•  UKCAT scores
•  Any GCSEs/IGCSEs studied and their grades

This information can be used to determine the following:

•  Applicants who received an interview but did not receive a B in Maths or
English (if any)
•  Average UKCAT scores
•  The lowest/average GCSE combinations (All GCSEs have been included
including Maths and English)

Please note:

•  Data has been taken for the following UCAS cycles: 2018 and 2019.
•  Applicants could have applied for deferred entry.
•  GCSE grades are inputted onto applications by applicants themselves. If a
qualification were a condition of an offer, the university would request proof
of such qualifications before issuing an unconditional offer. These grades are
not necessarily accurate.
•  Applicants may upload certificates showing GCSE grades. However, these
grades may not be stored on the university system.
•  The data is not manually cleaned and is provided as it is stored.
•  Resits/remarks may be included in the data.
•  The qualifications data is also provided as it is stored in the system. As a
result, there are often multiple lines of data per application, dependent on
the number of qualifications.

This completes the university’s response to your information request.
