Applied Language Solutions interpreter service
Dear Ministry of Justice,
I would like the following information on the contract for interpreter services with Applied Language Solutions (ALS):
* When was the contract agreed and how many other organisations or companies were involved in the tender process?
* How much is the Ministry of Justice paying to ALS for the service and how long will this arrangement last for?
* Is there any stipulation in the contract to cancel it or reduce the length as a result of poor performance? Can money be witheld as a result of poor performance?
* When did the contract start?
* Since that point, how many complaints has the Ministry of Justice received relating to ALS?
* How many trials in England and Wales have collapsed as a result of there being no interpreter available since the contract began?
* Can this figure be broken down into regions? (Eastern, Greater London, Midlands, North East, North West, South East, South West, Yorkshire, Wales)
* How many court proceedings in England and Wales have been delayed by at least a day since the contract was introduced as a result of an interpreter being absent?
* How many tribunals or immigration hearings have been delayed or cancelled in England and Wales as a result of an interpreter being absent?
Yours faithfully,
John Hyde
