Applied Behaviour Analysis
Dear Greenwich Borough Council,
Freedom of information request:
I would like to know:
1. The number of individuals in Royal Greenwich for whom you are providing funding for ABA therapy (Applied Behaviour Analysis) in the last 2 years at primary level- please classify this to show per year.
2. How many of them had funding approval due to a tribunal order.
3. Please can you forward me any policy documents that are associated with
the awarding of any Applied Behavioural Analysis provision and demonstrate
how the decision is made.
4. Please can you explain your rationale for awarding Applied
Behavioural Analysis without tribunal orders?
5. Apart from ABA, what other methods of teaching and therapies have you funded for primary school children with a diagnosis of ASD in a mainstream setting – please classify to show the most funded method/therapies?
6. What is the average funding you approve to cover ABA therapies or special needs education for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder on average in the last 2 years?
Yours faithfully,
Lina Yeboah

6. What is the average funding you approve to cover ABA therapies or special needs education for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder on average in the last 2 years?
• Funding for each of the last two years has remained fairly constant at 3.6 million a year – this funds specialist placements, the ASD Outreach service and other services into schools for ASD children and young people. We also fund Special schools: (Royal Borough of Greenwich has 4 special schools who meet the needs of children with ASD include as well as other needs such as Physical Disability, Profound and Multiple Learning disability, Social, Emotional and Mental Health etc.
We are not able to break this down for just ASD
• We also fund children with an ASD and an EHCP supported in mainstream settings
We would be able to provide the total cost of support for children/young people with EHCP’s in mainstream schools but not broken down to individual needs. We also fund speech and language provision in all schools which benefits children and young people with ASD
