Dear Alvaro,

With reference to your request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act, the School's response is below.

(a) The figures for applications and acceptances by country for BSc
Economics in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Please see attached spreadsheet.

(b) The number of (I)GCSEs that successful BSc Economics candidates had
on average, and how many of those were at grade A* (2007, 2008 and 2009
entry).

(c) A breakdown of the examination boards that awarded successful
candidates' IGCSEs and GCE A levels. (BSc Economics, 2007, 2008 and 2009
entry).
The School is unable to respond to parts b) and c) of your request
because to do so would breach the fee limit for the data relating to
2008 and 2009. The data is in manual form and we would have to check
through every form in order to first find the information. Further
processing would then be required.
The data relating to 2007 has been destroyed in accordance with the
School's normal retention practices.

(d) How many of the candidates accepted into Economics held an GCE A
level in Further Mathematics, and how many of these were awarded by
Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
Please see attached email.

However, should you wish to appeal the decision, either contact me on
020 7955 6481 or put your appeal in writing to Jenny Bone, Head of
Planning and Corporate Policy Division, London School of Economics and
Political Science, Houghton Street, London, WC2A 2AE. We will then

working days. You can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office
http://www.ico.gov.uk/, though they expect the internal review to be
carried out before receiving a complaint directly
