2018, received by the University and passed to me as the University’s
Freedom of Information Officer for action.

In response to your questions:

The information you are requesting is exempt under section 43 (commercial
interests) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

When information is released in the form of a response to requests under
the Freedom of Information Act it is actually a release of those details
to the world. Higher Education is a highly competitive environment and the
disclosure of such information, at this time, may provide our competitors
with information, about the University’s performance in the current
recruitment process, that they may be able to use to their advantage .

We are however able to provide you with a range figure for each question

1. How many applications for all types of study (undergraduate courses,
postgraduate courses, foundation courses etc) for the academic year
2018/19 did the University of Northampton receive before the deadline of
the 15th January 2018.

The number of applications the University received for all types of study,
before the 15^th January, 2018 deadline, was between 10,000 and 15,000.

2. How many applications for all types of study (undergraduate courses,
postgraduate courses, foundation courses etc) for the academic year
2017/18 did the University of Northampton receive before the deadline of
the 15th January 2017.

The number of applications the University received for all types of study,
before the 15^th January, 2017 deadline, was between 10,000 and 15,000.

Please note that whilst the range figure is the same more applications
were received for the 15 January 2018 deadline.

I hope the University has made its response in a clear and constructive
manner; however, if you consider the University has handled your request
unfairly you are entitled to follow the process set out in our standard
