Anti-libidinal interventions in sex offenders

Zoe Tarimo made this Freedom of Information request to Department of Health and Social Care Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

Department of Health and Social Care did not have the information requested.

Dear Department of Health and Social Care,

I am a current masters student in criminal justice policy and I am undertaking a research project on the use of anti-libidinal interventions (chemical castration) for convicted sex offenders within the UK.

I would interested to find out the following information:

1. As of 2020, what is the current official policy in relation providing anti-libidinal interventions to convicted sex offenders?
2. Does there exist a set programme for anti-libidinal interventions within prisons?
3. Which UK prisons offer anti-libidinal interventions to convicted sex offenders?
4. How many prisoners have volunteered for anti-libidinal interventions?
5. How many offenders in prison or detention under the Mental Health Act 1983 have received anti-libidinal interventions ?
6. Are anti-libidinal interventions coupled with cognitive-behavioural therapy, and if yes, is this a requirement throughout the prisons ?

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Yours faithfully,

Zoe Tarimo
