Dear Mr. Bateman
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REF: 2012-295
I am responding to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
(FOIA), which we received on 19 March 2012, for information held by the
Council. You requested:
Please can you provide me with the total annual training budget for
Children’s and Young People’s Social Service’s for the financial years:

b) 2010 -2011
c) 2011 -2012

For each year could you also provide me with:
a) Administration costs of running the training programme?
b) How much was spent on training and which courses were commissioned?
c) How much was spent on e-learning and which courses were commissioned?
Thank you for your enquiry about training expenditure and training courses
commissioned by our Family Services (children and families social care).
I can confirm that the budget allocated for training in Family Services
for the years in question is as follows:
Year Budget
2009-2010 £388,678.00
2010-2011 £401,353.00
2011-2012 £297,118.00
2012-2013 £282,258.00 (estimate)
The figure given for 2011-2012 is an estimate as our Children’s Services
learning and development service is being reorganised and the final budget
allocation has not yet been determined.
Please find attached lists of training courses commissioned in each of the
past three years. We have not yet finalised our training programme for
2012-2013, however I have enclosed a list of the courses scheduled to
date.
You will see that these lists of courses cover courses which are
commissioned directly by Family Services as well as courses commissioned
jointly with other services or agencies.
In addition to these ‘classroom’ based courses, our LSCB training
programme offers the following e-learning courses:
Inclusion and Diversity Background to Safeguarding Children Introduction
to Child Abuse Information Sharing Emotional Abuse Neglect Physical Abuse
Sexual Abuse Bullying Abuse of Disabled Children Domestic Abuse Child in
Need and Child Protection
The training budgets given above also cover the following training
expenditure:
