Dear Newham Borough Council,

Please provide information as to how your Animal Welfare Service can carry extendable batons? As far to my knowledge, these are illegal to carry.

Yours faithfully,
Jake Knight.

Jake,

I've already queried this (and was given a very questionable response - it was claimed that the batons are not batons but "bite-sticks").

If you want to compare, you can contact me via mikelaw_per@yahoo.co.uk

Mike,
I was interested when i read this application but even more so now having heard the response you previously received. Might i recommend you request a copy of the guidance all individuals who carry "bite-sticks" carry and the number of complaints made regarding their use in the last two years.
Yours,
Harry Raffal

I just can't believe, even "bite-sticks", how they obtained permission to carry one of these? If I walked down the street and carried one, would that be acceptable and say well it's a bite stick I am a wildlife rescuer, blah blah blah.
