Dear Bridgend County Borough Council,
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST
I wish to make a formal request for a freedom of information held by yourselves.
Animal Professionals/Industries to Include all/any:
Dog Walkers, Pet Sitters, Dog Boarding at Boarders Home, Dog Boarding at Kennels, Dog Day Care, Dog Transporters, Dog Behaviourists, Dog Groomers,
History of the previous 6 years: 01.01.2018 - 06.06.2024
1. How many deaths have been reported to the the council either directly, or via RSPCA, of dogs in the care of a pet professional?
2. Who was the reporting person? Dog owner, dog carer, veterinarian, other?
3. What profession did each death occurred?
4. How many deaths per profession?
5. How many deaths per geographic region by village? Ie Pencoed, Pyle, Bridgend, Maesteg etc
6. What was the cause of death per animal?
7. What was the circumstances surrounding the death? Ie locked in a conservatory, locked in a car, running loose off lead etc
8. How many cases did the council attend in person to investigate?
9. What is the structure and methods used to evaluate whether or not to bring charges against a professional?
10. What was the decision not to prosecute a professional?
11. In how many cases did the RSPCA and also the council decide to bring charges against?
12. How many cases were successfully prosecuted in court?
13. In these successful cases, how did the dog die?
14. In these successful cases, which death was in which geographic area?
15. What was the full sentence issued by the Judge for each successful prosecution?
16. How many professionals plead not guilty and remained this plea throughout the trial?
17. How many professionals plead not guilty, but changed plea during the court proceedings?
18. How many professionals plead guilty from the very start of court proceedings?
19. What was the success rate for the number of trials brought to court, rated by type of industry and/or death of pet?
20. What was the cost of each individual prosecution? Please split the costs down to successful prosecution and unsuccessful prosecutions.
21. How many court cases were appealed?
22. What was the success rate of the appeal cases?
23. How many professionals agreed to specific terms to avoid having charges brought against them?
24. Personal and Business names of all parties who have had prosecutions charges brought against them.
