Does your university conduct experiments upon living animals? If yes, how many animals are held on university-owned premise for research or teaching purposes?

How many live animals have been used in experimentation in the last 5 years?

What was the reasoning for and the outcome of these experiments?

What species of animal were used?

Does the university have any plans to halt the use of animal testing on university premises?

YES – please see annual returns on website for years 2013-2017

How many live animals have been used in experimentation in the last 5 years?

Please see the website for 2013-2017 data.

What was the reasoning for and the outcome of these experiments?

The reasoning for was Biomedical research involving breeding and holding of genetically modified and wild type animals, tissue harvesting after euthanasia, and procedural work under Home Office regulated project licences.
The outcome was Research Data.

What species of animal were used?

Annual returns on the website show species of animals used.

Does the university have any plans to halt the use of animal testing on university premises?
NO
