Animal food cost
Dear Walton Hall Gardens Children's Zoo,
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from the year 2018-2019 on Animal food expenses.
I wish to know how much was spent on food during that time and what animal food cost the most.
If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.
If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined I would be grateful for any further advice and assistance.
If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me via email and I will be very happy to clarify what I am asking for and discuss the request, my details are outlined below.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response.
Best wishes,
Conor O Donoghue

Dear Kelly, Sean (Neighbourhood Services),
Thank you
Would you be able to give me a breakdown of
Each animals food cost
which Animal (named)
Yours sincerely,
conor
Hi Conor
Unfortunately this is not possible as a lot of the food we get is multi-functional in terms of it feeds many animals.
I could tell you what we spend on the likes of Hay & straw or the things like hazelnuts which are specifically for Red squirrels if that helps
Kind regards
Sean
Dear Kelly, Sean (Neighbourhood Services),
Yes that would be fine.
I am trying make a data story with about 150 words for a portfolio submission so any data you have would be fine.
Yours sincerely,
conor
Hi Conor
Each year I raise what I call a 'Limit Order' with various vendors.
This allows the vendor to continually use the same purchase order number throughout the year. Payments and orders are through Warrington Borough Councils SAP procurement and finance software system.
Around £1500 is raised to cover Vets fees for routine things such as worming animals and dental checks.
Around £2000 is raised simply for Hay and Straw (this is one of the big expenses)
Around £1000 is raised for Farrier services clipping hooves
We pay around £200 each year for Hazlenuts
The rest is spread across 3 specialist animal feed vendors, with our Zoo rangers raising monthly orders to some and bi-monthly to others
Kind regards
Sean Kelly
