Amount of water drained
Dear Black Drain Drainage Board,
Please could you tell me the following:
1) How much water your organisation estimates it processes in a year
2) Has your organisation completed any studies into how much additional water is going to process over the next next year, if so how many
Yours faithfully,
Jonathan Mantle
Thank you for your email.

Dear Mr Mantle,
The Black Drain Drainage Board operate surface water pumping stations in the Drainage District but does not process water with the meaning of water purification.
In 2015 they pumped 2 million cubic metres (440 million gallons) of surface water from the area into Main Rivers. 2.66 million cubic metres (585 million gallons) has been pumped so far in 2016.
The unpredictability of weather patterns creates uncertainty in the estimation of surface water pumping each year and no studies into how much additional water may be experienced have been completed.
We trust this completes your FOI request and hope you find this information of use.
Kind regards,
For and on behalf of the Shire Group of Internal Drainage Boards,
