Amount of properties for the Disabled.

Brighton and Hove City Council did not have the information requested.

Dear Brighton and Hove City Council,
Can you please tell me how many 2 bedroom, fully adapted properties you have in total for the Disabled?
How many are for a wheelchair users?
How many have gardens for those that have assistance dogs?
What sort of rent are they?? Are they under the LHA rate?
If not, how would a Disabled person pay the rent?
These are for Independent living, not sheltered properties.

Yours faithfully,

debbie Pice

Freedom Of Information, Brighton and Hove City Council

Please find set out below the information in response to the above
request:

Can you please tell me how many 2 bedroom, fully adapted  properties you
have in total for the Disabled?

We do not have this information available in any report that we could run
from our housing management or asset management systems.  In order to
provide you with this information we would have to manually check every
property.  This would take us longer than 18 hours to collate into a
response that we can send to you.

Because the cost of complying with your request would exceed the limit set
by the Freedom of Information Act 2000, on this occasion we are unable to
provide a response and as such are applying the exemption found in Section
12 of the Act.  This exemption allows public authorities to refuse to
respond to a request that will take more than 18 to comply, this includes
work to identify, locate, extract, and then provide the information that
has been asked for.

Although we cannot provide you with a response to the specific questions
you have asked, we can provide you with alternative information that you
might find helpful.

It is possible to give figures for the number of general needs council
properties which have a tenant with a mobility rating.

General needs … of which have tenant with … as a
Bedroom size council mobility rating percentage
properties
2 4,261 390 9%

It is important to note that the above figures are for two bedroom general
needs council properties which have a tenant with a mobility rating.
However, this does not mean that they are all fully adaptable.

How many are for a wheelchair users?

See above

How many have gardens for those that have assistance dogs?

See above

What sort of rent are they?? Are they under the LHA rate?

The average rent for a two bedroom general needs council property is
£87.69 per week, which is much lower than the [1]Local Housing Allowance
(LHA) rates applicable to private tenants (maximum £192.48 per week for a
two bedroom property).

We are not able to obtain an average rent for certain mobility ratings so
this figure is for all two bedroom council properties.  The lowest weekly
two bedroom general needs council property is £66.78 and the highest is
£190.56, which is lower than the LHA rate for private tenants.

If not, how would a Disabled person pay the rent?

As outline above, we can confirm that they are under the LHA rate.
