Dear Caerphilly County Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Caerphilly County Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Amount of money spent on Supply Teaching in 2022-2023'.

I find it hard to believe that there is no way for you to know and or check the spending of individual schools on supply staff. There must be a way for you to monitor this and if not, that is concerning for a taxpayer.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...

Yours faithfully,

David Webb

WWW: FOI, Caerphilly County Borough Council

Dear David Webb

Thank-you for your email received on 12th June.

To clarify our earlier response, the total figures provided to you on 5th
June relate to Corporate Education support agency staff engaged by the
Council for the last two financial years -

2022/23 - £12,541,909 (full financial year)

2023/24 - £1,571,755 (invoices paid from April 2023 to 05.06.23)

These figures are for all agency staff.  We do not hold the breakdown
between teaching and non-teaching staff.   This level of information would
only be held by the individual schools.

Please note we do not hold information concerning agency staff directly
engaged by schools as individual schools manage their agency worker
requirements.

Whilst we are unable to directly provide an answer to your question
concerning teaching and educational support staff, we are able to provide
a further breakdown of the above figures by individual school and agency
if required.

Yours sincerely
