Ambulance took 8 hours to get to a stroke victim
Dear Abertawe Bro Morgannwg Community Health Council,
I've made the same request to Swansea Council who have directed me elsewhere.
On Tuesday November 17 my mother living in Mount Pleasant had a stroke and had to wait nearly 8 hours until paramedics arrived.
The information I'm requesting is how many ambulance required calls were made, how many ambulances were available that day and what the current priority order is in these 999 calls.
As a stroke victim, if medical care is not administered within the first 4 hour, the severity of the condition increases considerably. I think these questions aren't unreasonable and appreciate these are very difficult times but I would like them answered as mum isn't in a good way.
Yours faithfully,
Jason Gooding
Dear Jeff,
Please see below Freedom of Information request that was sent to us.
Could you respond to this gentleman please as it relates to ambulance waiting times.
Kind Regards

Dear Jason Gooding,
Your request for information has been passed on to me so that I can begin processing this under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
However, in order for me to provide the most relevant and accurate data, I would be grateful if you could please clarify a time period for your request.
Do you require information for the entire 24 hour period on Tuesday November 17th or is it specifically in regards to the 8 hour period between the call being received and the response arriving? If it is the latter, could you please confirm the start and end time for your request as I do not have access to the call logs.
In addition, do you only require information on Ambulances that would have ordinarily covered the Mount Pleasant area or do you require information on resources throughout the whole of Wales?
Your request will be held until clarification is received.
Regards,
Jeff Prescott
Dear Jeff Prescott (Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust - 020),
Thank you for your email, if possible, I only need the information for the time period 1000-1900. I should probably keep the ambulance area coverage wider than mount pleasant as I don't know the procedure in case of urgent calls or if they can deviate from their own areas.
Yours sincerely,
Jason Gooding
