Amateur Licences Revoked - Period 1/5/2011 to 1/5/2021

The request was successful.

Dear Office of Communications,

I am requesting information on Amateur Radio Licences which have been varied or revoked by Ofcom, using the prescribed process, as laid down in Schedule 1 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006 (‘the Act’).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Geographical:-
United Kingdom.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Period:-
1/5/2011 to 1/5/2021.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scope:-

All classes of Amateur Radio Licences requiring compliance with the Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006. This covers licenses held either by individuals or more than one person. Only information where non-compliance with the conditions of the Amateur Radio Licence is involved should be included.

Information requested by this FOI:–

A) The Date of variation or revocation of the licence.
The year of implementation will suffice.

B) The Class/Type of licence.
E.g. Advanced, Repeater, SCC, NoV etc.

C) The reason(s) for variation or revocation of the licence.
E.g. Out of band operation, deliberate jamming/interference etc.
If there are multiple reasons, then they should be listed separately.

D) Action(s) taken.
E.g. Variation - restriction on power output, hours of permitted operation etc.
or
E.g. Revocation – permanent or for a period of time.

Excluded from this FOI request:-

The issuing of a Fixed Penalty Notice (‘FPN’) where a licence variation or revocation is not involved.

I request that your reply be supplied in the form of .pdf files, available in the public domain.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I understand that since approximately July 2016 Ofcom has been operating a case driven computer system that makes it much easier to access information such as I have requested. However, I believe that given the low volume of data likely to be generated by my FOI it should be possible to access earlier years, and still remain within the cost guidelines.

If this is not the case, then please let me know A.S.A.P.

I look forward to receiving your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Stewart Baker

Dear Mr Baker,

In reference to our FOI response letter dated 16 June please note the
total figure for revoked licences in 2015 should be 529, rather than 519
as stated.

We have updated our [1]published response to reflect this correction.

Apologies for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.

Kind regards,

Alexander
