Allowed In-cell property by Incentives and Earned Privileges (IEP) levels in named Scottish Prisons
Dear Scottish Prison Service,
Please could you supply me with a list of property including (quaintly limits) prisoners are allowed in their cells, for each of the different Incentives and Earned Privileges (IEP) levels. For Barlinnie Prison, Low Moss Prison, Glenochil Prison, Addiewell Prison and Cornton Vale Prison.
I understand that this list will be subject to change and review, however assume there must be a document which states this within the policies and procedures files of the Prison.
Yours faithfully,
Mr. Stewart
Dear Birrell Martin,
Thank you for handling my request.
I am basically looking for a list of allowed in cell property for prisoners within the mentioned prisons. It was my mistake to mention IEP's as I was un aware that Scottish prisons do not run this.
I do however assume that each prison has a list of allowed property and would be most grateful if you would assist me further by supplying me with these documents.
Thanks for your help.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Stewart
Mr Stewart
I will need to record this as a new FOI request but I will endeavour to get the information to you quickly
In any case, you will receive a written response within 20 working days

Dear Birrell Martin,
I understand this will be classed as a new request, and thank you for saying that you will try and get this information to me as quickly as possible.
I have tried to clarify what it is I am looking for below,
My request basically refers to Part 7 of the prison rules rule 45, which states that;
The Governor must establish, a system of privileges...
These are broken down into different subdivisions and I am most interested in rule 45 (3) a;
the items of property which the Governor may allow a prisoner to have in the prisoner's cell or room.
However if the prisons requested have a single document converting the whole of rule 45 or indeed the whole of part 7 of the rules I would be grateful if this could be forwarded.
It is also my understanding that there is a profoma in prisons for requesting property to be sent in from the outside again if this available I would also like copies of those.
I am not wishing to extend the remit of the original request, and appreciate the time you have already taken on this and my other requests regarding menus and canteen lists.
I am therefore more than happy to work through larger documents to find the information I require, if you find it easier to request all documents / policies relating to part 7 of the rules from the various prisons and forward them on to me,this may cut down your collating time.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Stewart
