As of January 2013, please could you tell me:

1) How many allotment sites are there in Wigan for which the Council has access to waiting list data?

2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?

3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these sites?

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

5) How many new allotment sites on council land were brought into use in 2011 and 2012? Please give:
a) number of new sites
b) names of new sites
c) total area of new land in hectares
d) total number of new plots

Dear Madam,

I am writing to respond to your freedom of information request. This
request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Your request and our response in blue is detailed below.

1) How many allotment sites are there in Wigan for which the Council has
access to waiting list data? 

12 statutory sites and 36 non statutory sites 

2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?   252  on statutory
sites and 238 on non statutory sites 

3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these

sites?  809  for all sites 

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?  no 

5) How many new allotment sites on council land were brought into use in
2011 and 2012? Please give:    

a) number of new sites  - one 

b) names of new sites  - Worsely Hall Community allotments 

c) total area of new land in hectares  -  0.27

d) total number of new plots  - 14 and a community allotment

Note: There is  also a community managed statutory allotment site in
Tyldesley which has circa. 144 plots on it. As this site is not managed by
the Council it is not included in the figures above.  

If you are unhappy with any aspect of this response, an independent senior
officer will review this decision. Please let me know if you would like to
arrange this.
