Broadland District Council did not have the information requested.

Margaret Campbell

Dear Broadland District Council,

As of January 2010, please could you tell me:

1) How many allotment sites are there in the council area for which the Council has access to waiting list data?

2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?

3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these sites?

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in 2009? Please give:
a) number of new sites
b) names of new sites
c) total area of new land in hectares
d) total number of new plots

Yours faithfully,

Margaret Campbell

Freedom of Information,

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 2
January 2010. In response to question 1, I can confirm that this Council
does not operate or manage any allotments and only holds incomplete
information on which parish or town councils within the district do so. As
a result we do not hold the information you request so I am unable to
provide answers to the additional questions you raised.

Residents enquiring about allotments are referred to their parish or town
council and contact details for these councils are available on our
website - [1]www.broadland.gov.uk under P for parishes in the A to Z
section of our website.

It may be of interest to know that there is available an exhaustive study
of allotment provision in Norfolk. This was produced following extensive
research on the matter and was published in 2007. It is available from
booksellers and is entitled "Norfolk Allotments - the plot so far" - ISBN
978-0-09555924-0-9.

I trust the above response will meet your purposes but if, for whatever
reason you wish to get back to me, please feel free to do so. In
particular if you are unhappy with the information provided or how your
request was handled please make contact and I will explain how you can
make a complaint either to the Council or to the Information Commissioner.
