Allotment waiting list data

The request was successful.

Margaret Campbell

Dear Sir or Madam,

As of December 2008, please could you tell me:

1) How many allotment sites are there in the Council area for which the council has access to waiting list data?

2) How many plots are on these sites?

3) How many people are on these waiting lists for an allotment?

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

5) How many sites are there in total in the Council area?

Yours faithfully,

Margaret Campbell

Decroos, Louise, Reading Borough Council

Thank you for your enquiry.
The council has 21 sites to which we have access to waiting lists.
The plots on these sites vary from site to site, our smallest site is Ardler Road in Caversham which has 6 and our largest site is Bulmershe which is in Church Road which has 225 plots, most sites have a mixture of full plots (250 sqm) or half plots (125 sqm)
The waiting lists for each site vary too, the longest waiting lists are for our seven sites in Caversham. Our shortest waiting list is for Bulmershe which has one person waiting and our longest is Emmer Green (Grove Road) and Oakley Road which have seventy on the waiting list.
The only allotment site which has a closed list is Cow Lane, this is because the site is being closed down due to redevelopment of the area, though Network Rail maybe making a plot of land available in the near future in Richfield Avenue.
There is one site in the area which we do not have access to and that is the Reading Road allotment site, it is run by Woodley Town Council but they have to make available fifty plots to anyone living in the Reading Area which require a plot there.

Dear Louise Decroos,

The response to my FOI request to Reading Borough Council is still outstanding after 20 working days.

I requested the total overall number of plots and individuals waiting for the 21 allotment sites for which the council has waiting list data.

I believe that under the Freedom of Information Act you should have replied by now, and are breaking the law. I would be grateful for an early response.

Many thanks.
