All deaths CAUSED by COVID-19 up to 26 November 2020

Reverend Croad made this Freedom of Information request to Office for National Statistics This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Office for National Statistics should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Office for National Statistics,

You previously responded to someone's question about COVID-19 "linked" deaths by referencing those in March. There was significant disparity between those where there was no underlying health condition, and total deaths.

As you appear to be the only organisation keeping detailed data, I would like to know the following:

1. Please tell me the total number of all deaths where COVID-19 was registered as the cause of death, rather than a "COVID-19 linked death", from the 12th of August 2020 (the approximate point at which Public Health England may have stopped recording any death as a COVID-19 death if a person ever was diagnosed with COVID-19 but later died of anything else, as exposed by Oxford University) until the 26th of November 2020 - today's date,

2. If possible, please tell me how many of these happened within 48 hours of a COVID-19 diagnosis, as I understand that it is currently the case that anyone who has died within 28 days of a COVID-19 diagnosis is recorded as a COVID-19 death (https://www.cebm.net/covid-19/public-hea...),

3. If possible, please tell me how many of the death certificates in relation to the above were approved by doctors who physically examined the patient, and

4. If possible, please tell me how many deaths where COVID-19 was registered as the cause of death were backed up by a second medical professional

Yours faithfully,

Reverend Croad
