Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

I am interested in finding out how much people use smart speakers - and the products that the BBC has developed for them.

With that in mind, please let me know:

1. Which 'skills' for Alexa (Amazon's smart speaker) the BBC has developed.

2. The average daily users for each skill.

3. The average time spent per user.

Thanks very much. Do feel free to query anything if I've been unclear.

Yours faithfully,

Rob Blackie.

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of British Broadcasting Corporation's handling of my FOI request 'Alexa skills'.

You refused to provide me with the information I asked for, on the grounds that it was 'held for the purposes of journalism'.

This information is self-evidently not information used by journalists in the usual sense.

I'm asking for management information, which allows me to understand how many people are using BBC services, not for anything that might involve, for instance, sources or confidential data.

This data is simply about the success, or not, of a BBC service. It's similar to data on how many people watch a TV programme or visit the website.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...

Yours faithfully,

Rob Blackie
