Alcohol regualtion and alternate influences
Dear Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs,
1. Which department regulates Alcohol.
2. Why has the ACMD not advised making Alcohol a controlled substance, given it has been proven with large amounts of scientific evidence to be more harmful and damaging than some controlled substances (like cannabis)?
3. Who is responsible for making the decision that Alcohol will not be a controlled substance?
Context: “The Home Office bases decisions on the classification of drugs on evidence
provided by the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (‘ACMD’), an independent
expert body that advises the government on drug-related issues in the UK.”
4. If the evidence provided by the Advisory Council does not correlate with the classification of the substance, what other factors could the decision have been based on?
Yours faithfully,
Mr Hyde
