AKA Report

Rossell Conner made this Freedom of Information request to Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

The AKA Report of January 2012 raised a number of grave concerns regarding multiple providers of supported living services.

The report makes reference to Service Provider 4 and describes examples of abuse perpetrated by this organisation including, but not limited to, neglect, financial and verbal abuse.

The report further states that, in regard to Service Provider 4, the owners of this organisation “also ran Service Provider 27, a care home with both older and younger persons sections”

Clearly, in view of the seriousness of the issues raised regarding this organisation, the public expectation would be that the Council would no longer engage in any type of business with this company.

Therefore, under the Freedom of Information legislation, I would like confirmation that the Council no longer places vulnerable individuals with Service Provider 27 or any other organisation that is operated by the individuals that held a formal position (i.e. Director, Company Secretary etc.) within these organisations. I do not require the names of these companies, or any other information that could lead to the identification of these companies.

Yours faithfully,

R Conner

Hi Rossell,
I also read this request today, and fear you may find the Council will only provide you with an exceptionally small amount of information due to the way your request is worded.
Again, consider sending a supplementary email very soon, after reading similar requests and responses given to other requestors - some of my own requests may help.
More precise wording should lead to a lot more information being given to you.
Hope this helps and good luck,

I'm curious as to why this has suddenly come up again?.
I presume there are outstanding issues which still haven't been addressed .
(and frankly will never be addressed because it's too much like hard work).
I'm also curious as to how The Scarlet Pimpernel (correctly) identified the organisations involved....

My understanding is that the Council continues to place (and, in fact may never have stopped placing) individuals with Service Provider 27, despite the fact that its proprietor (Service Provider 10) was identified in the AKA report as perpetrating horrific abuse on vulnerable people.

And they never will Ross.DASS are too scared/too lazy - the choice is yours. Meanwhile vulnerable people are in the hands of someone who perpertrated some of the worst (if not the worst) abuses identified in the Independent Review. AKA steering well clear of the most serious abuses ( organised crime, death etc;) ....

A breif investigation into the third from last paragraph of the AKA report makes interesting reading, AKA demanded a time scale of three months to address the further abuse of vulnerable tenants brought to Wirrals attention by a whistleblower, here we are several years later and Wirral Dass have still not addressed their abuse which is still being perpetrated to this day.

Talk about name being taken in vain. This could get very confusing .
However not only is the Independent Review/AKA Report deficient in may respects the Action Plan that emanated from it was also deficient - but what does it matter if councillor scrutiny is non-existent and the report is redacted beyond comprehension?.
It matters because vulnerable people are still being abused and I can't accept that I lost everything so this could continue.
