AK47 purchases

Iain Overton made this Freedom of Information request to Ministry of Defence

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Ministry of Defence,

Between 20 March 2003 and the 30 April 2009 (the start of the so-called '2nd Iraq War' and the date UK troops pulled out of Iraq) can you please provide to me the following on an xls spreadsheet:

1. The numbers of AK rifles (and all their variants) supplied to any member of the Iraqi government - including military, police, security personnel and any other state actor.
2. The number of AK rifles supplied to any militia or other personnel in Iraq (or its immediate environs such as Kurdistan).
3. The cost of the above provision
4. The name of the company or companies through whom such orders were made.

If you do not hold this information, but know who might, please can you forward this FOI to that body.

If such a request exceeds my FOI cost, can you take each financial year (starting with 2004) and supply details for each year until my £600 runs out?

Yours faithfully,

Iain Overton
